This is what she says in her own words... It suddenly dawned on me that the only way I was going to travel was by becoming a croupier! So I got a job in a casino and worked for a few years before applying for posts abroad. My friend Steve (now living in Australia) had applied for a job at the famous Sun City Casino - South Africa. I thought to myself “I couldn’t be that lucky - I just couldn’t ”. So I wrote to them. I wasn’t really expecting to hear anything. About three months later I received a letter! I just stared at the South African postmark for ages before opening it. They were inviting me to an interview in London. I attended the interview - coming away slightly apprehensive not sure whether I had got the job. I received a letter a few weeks later saying that I had at this time not been successful, but they would keep my name on file for future reference. I thought “Yeah Right”. 5 months later - out of the blue, I got a telephone call from the casino in Sun City asking if I still wanted to go to South Africa. I screamed “Yes! Yes!” I was told then that I would be flying out on the 27th of March 1983 and the tickets would be waiting for me at the airport. Can you imagine at the age of 27 I was off on an epic journey... The casino was absolutely amazing - so, so glamorous. There were over 250 staff and I started living a Five Star lifestyle! I drank champagne, ate in the very best restaurants and wore expensive clothes and met a lot of rich and famous people. I could not believe it! I had access to a life that I thought could not be possible. It was an amazing experience. I stayed for four years and I will never forget it... You too could be as lucky as me, if you want to follow your dream! I was in the business for 16 years and I worked in South Africa, On the Cruise Ships sailing in the med and all around the Caribbean and I lived in Fort Lauderdale... FANTASTIC!
